A poem about empathy

With her furtive stares
she scares onlookers
nervously rubbing her hands
considering what she’s done

You know, she’s done living that way
But she’s afraid of being misunderstood
so, sadly opts for what she ‘‘ought to’’ do
not who she was created to be

Empathy is at the core of this poem. I embrace the idea of letting go of the past in order to live out one’s true purpose going forward.
