Spotlight on singer-songwriter, Andrew Word
An interview
Andrew Word is a ‘‘singer-songwriter who makes acoustic-driven music about redemption and relationship.’’ His faith lies at the core of his being and his craft and he describes his music as ‘‘layered, organic songs.’’ Word recently took the time to share his thoughts about his music and his outlook on life.
Oftentimes, musicians inspire each other to reach for the stars. And it was no different for Word as influences from other musicians and personal musical experiences in the early stages of his life were key in inspiring him to become a singer-songwriter.
‘‘I've loved all kinds of music from an early age and started learning guitar as a teenager,’’ Word said. ‘‘Several years later I began discovering artists like John Mark McMillan and Brooke Fraser. Music like that speaks about faith in a very artistic way, and it deeply resonates with me. That's when I really got inspired to write my own songs.’’
In April 2020, he released an EP titled ‘‘Walk These Hills.’’ Sometimes, songs are based on real life events. And in Word’s case, his family was at the core of ‘‘Walk These Hills.’’
